Ped Egg Perfection

Shark Steam Mop

    Good morning beach bunnies and bums! I do all of my house cleaning on Mondays so I thought it would be appropriate to review my Shark Steam Mop today. This is by far one of my favorite household appliances. I used to mop and hand-scrub all of my floors because, quite honestly, I'm a little bit of a clean freak when it comes to my home. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for my kids so having a product that I can use quickly and often is important to me. I can usually finish all of the floors in my home within about 20 minutes thanks to this great appliance.
    After using this steam mop just once, I vowed to never again use a regular mop again. Easy Breezy Bottle Opening

    I recently purchased a Waring Professional Wine Opener and I'm very happy with it. I enjoy entertaining, but I often have trouble opening the bottles of wine for the adults and cider for the kids. I love this product because it is cordless and easily opens up to 80 bottles when fully charged. This stainless steel and rubber appliance is very easy to clean, includes a foil cutter, and comes with a 5 year product warranty. It works on both natural and synthetic corks, stopping when the cork is fully out so you don't have to estimate or guess. My kids even enjoy the product because they feel like they're able to help me in the kitchen. It's so lightweight, easy and safe to use that I don't have to worry that they are going to hurt themselves breaking a glass bottle. I ordered my Waring Pro Wine Opener through Amazon because they are listed for $28 sometimes with free shipping, as opposed to the official Waring Pro site which has them listed for $40 plus tax and shipping. Overall, I am extremely pleased with my purchase.

    If there is one kitchen appliance that I cannot live without, excluding my dishwasher of course, it's my food processor. Aroma Rice Cooker & Food Steamer

    Have you ever felt as though it's impossible to make perfect rice? If so, then you are not alone! I have never been able to make perfect rice, no matter how hard I try. When I saw this product I knew that my culinary prayers had been answered. After just a few uses I fell in love my new Aroma Rice Cooker & Food Steamer. Not only does it maker perfect rice, but it also steams vegetables and meats simultaneously, which has saved me a great deal of time in the kitchen.     Good morning! I hope that you all had a wonderful Independence Day. I found myself cooking with ease most of the week thanks to my new favorite appliance, Cuisinart's Convection Toaster Oven Broiler. I prefer to use the stove or oven to reheat most of my family's food, only using the microwave if it's absolutely necessary. I find that this product is just as efficient and the food has a much better taste overall. This appliance is quite versatile, allowing you the option of toasting, broiling, or cooking your food using the convection setting. It's large enough to fit small whole chickens and 12" pizzas, yet, as you can see, it doesn't take up massive amounts of space on my kitchen counter. This easy-to-use appliance is perfect for anyone who is looking to conserve space in their kitchen,  or even for someone who is not equipped with a full kitchen.
    Not only is this product easy to use, but it also automatically shuts off after a 4 hour period. This gives me an added sense of security because I tend to be rather forgetful on our family's busier days. Between getting everyone else and myself ready for the day, I'd often find myself struggling to remember whether I turned off the oven or started the dishwasher before leaving the house. I have found that this product saves me an immense amount of time because it heats food quickly and evenly, and the slide-out crumb tray makes it extremely easy to clean. I doubt that you will need to use the warranty, but it's a nice option in comparison to most products which are usually only covered 1 year after purchase. Whether you're making toast, cooking a pizza, or broiling chicken for dinner, this fantastic product will suit your family's needs perfectly. You'll find yourself using your microwave or large oven much less often, and having more time to relax. Give this neat appliance a try, I promise you won't regret it!

Scrub Away Your Bathroom Blues

    We all know how quickly our bathrooms can get dirty and who wants to spend all day trying to scrub away dirt, grime, and water stains? Not I! When cleaning my bathrooms, I have two products that I use religiously - SC Johnson Scrubbing Bubbles for your bathroom and the mega foaming shower cleaner. SC Johnson Scrubbing Bubbles Shower Mega Foamer works wonders on my bathtub and shower and even keeps it looking immaculate up for 4 days later. The foaming bubbles start working immediately so there is no need to use all your strength scrubbing away shower grime. Bending, squatting, and stretching to reach all the corners in the shower is difficult as it is, so any less scrubbing I have to do is a plus. This foaming cleaner eliminates any need for hard scrubbing so I'm able to do my house chores more efficiently and with less back and shoulder pain. This gives me enough strength and energy to clean the rest of my bathrooms, which I clean with SC Johnson Scrubbing Bubbles antibacterial bathroom cleaner.
    Before I started using this product I had about 4 or 5 different products I had to tote around the house just to clean my bathrooms. Now all I need is my one product and a sponge and vuala! All of the bathrooms in the house are clean. If you find yourself struggling to keep your bathroom spotless, I urge you to try these products. They are fabulous and make house cleaning a far more enjoyable experience. Spending less time cleaning means I have more time to spend with my family and doing things that I enjoy. Frizz & Flyaway Free Summer

   I love my curly hair, but I hate my frizz and flyaways with a passion! I've used products like Frizz Ease and BioSilk, as well as shampoo and conditioner combos like Redken All Soft and Garnier Fructis for curly hair. No matter what I do, I can never get it just right. My friend recently had an extra bottle of Ouidad Climate Control Heat & Humidity Gel and suggested I give it a try. I was a little skeptical at first because I normally steer clear of all hair gels. I've never wanted to have crisp or crunchy curls, but I've never been able to obtain those soft, defined, bouncy curls I've always longed for. I'm a firm believer in "Don't knock it 'til you try it." (most of the time), so I gave it a try and I am so glad that I did. I absolutely adore this product now! It's approximately $38 in the store, but it is well worth it. There are many beauty supply stores that sell it for as little as $20 so even if you're on a budget you can still use it.
    I rarely use a flat iron or a curling iron because of the damage it causes, but this product says that you can even use it on straight hair as well. No matter what kind of hair you have please try this wonderful product. It controlled my frizz/flyawayas and left my hair feeling silky and soft, keep in mind I have only tried the gel. I haven't even tried the shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in conditioner yet. I'm so pleased to have found this lovely hair product. Although it is a little more expensive than the hair products I buy from Target, it is worth every penny. While browsing their website, I saw that they have mini travel kits so if you want to try all of the products in the Climate Control line you can do so without spending a small fortune. This is a new must-have for me, especially with the summer heat fast approaching. I highly recommend this product for anyone and everyone who has frizz or flyaways. No matter how straight or curly your hair is, it is absolutely amazing! It smells wonderful too, so please give it a try, you will not regret this one. Olive Oil Nail Treatment

~Olive oil, I love you. In addition to tasting amazing, you moisturize and nourish my hair, feet, and nails. Thank you!!
    I'll bet you didn't know that so many of your beauty prayers could be answered with an ingredient you most likely already have in your kitchen. I've already covered the hair and foot treatment using extra virgin olive oil, now comes the nails. Almost every woman I know, as well as some men, love a relaxing mani/pedi, but what's the point of having great looking nails if beneath the polish they are cracked, dry, and brittle. Even if you're nails appear to be healthy, doing this treatment once a week never hurts. Remember to take off any nail polish with an acetone-free polish remover prior to this treatment.
    All you need is one pair of cotton gloves, 1 roll of medical tape, 10 small cotton balls (enough to cover each nail), and extra virgin olive oil. If you're doing this treatment on your feet as well just add in a few extra cotton balls and a pair of thick cotton socks. I recommend cutting the tape into sections first so it's easier to apply. You will probably need less than a 1/4 cup of olive oil, but measure out 1/4 cup just to be safe. Fully submerge each cotton ball into the olive oil; after about 5 seconds lightly squeeze out most of the oil. Cover your nail completely with the moist cotton ball and secure it with tape by wrapping one loop of tape around each finger. Repeat on each nail before carefully putting on socks and/or gloves. Leave the socks/gloves on as long as possible in order to get the most out of this nourishing treatment. Do this treatment at least once a week and you'll be as good as gold. Olive Oil & Sugar Lip Scrub

    Kiss uncomfortable, dry lips goodbye with this quick, easy, and cheap lip treatment. It works like a charm and the only two ingredients you need are extra virgin olive oil and sugar. Mix approximately a teaspoon of each ingredient in the palm of your hand until you make your own little "sugar scrub," then GENTLY smooth over your lips with your finger for about 30 seconds. Wash off your sugar scrub mix and then apply a small amount of olive oil alone to your lips. Applying the extra virgin olive oil to your lips every single night before going to sleep, plus doing this sugar scrub once a week, will keep your lips soft, smooth, and every so kissable. Olive Oil Foot Treatment

    In order to keep my feet looking and feeling fabulous, I soak them at least 3 times a week. Over the years, I've tried bath oils, salts, pumice stones, and lotions but my all time favorite foot treatment is pure extra virgin olive oil. I prefer to use it in conjunction with a foot spa like the Homedics Jet Action Footbath, although a regular container will work just fine. I pour about 1/4 of a cup of extra virgin olive oil into warm to hot water and soak my feet for 30 minutes to an hour. Make sure you keep a clean towel nearby to dry your feet, as well as a clean pair of thick socks, because your feet will be extremely oily and slippery after this treatment. The last thing you need is fabulous feet and a few minor injuries. Pain is not always beauty beach bunnies! Back to the treatment, after thoroughly drying your feet, massage a small amount of extra virgin olive oil onto them, focusing on your heels and soles. I recommend only using thick socks, as the oil will soak through thinner ones. Again, safety first. Thanks to this treatment, I now only use a pumice stone every other week and my feet always look and feel fantastic. Follow these simple steps 3 times a week and you will find yourself pumice-ing less and flaunting more! Fabulous Foot Spa

    After a long day at work or  running errands and picking up kids, there's nothing like relaxing with the Homedics Jet Action Footbath. You can say goodbye to dry, cracked heels and tired achy feet once and for all with this product. While it's not the same as having a pedicure done at a spa or salon, I find that this footbath works quite well and will save you money in the long run. I love it because it's fairly inexpensive, keeps the water warm, and includes a pedicure tool caddy with a pumice stone. I soak my feet in this foot spa 3-4 times a week for at least 30 minutes and I rarely ever have to use the pumice stone.  Soft feet are a must for me because I love wearing sandals and heels, and we all know nothing looks worse on a cute pair of shoes than not so fabulous feet. This product has mini jets and massaging foot pads that feel wonderful for at the end of the day, or even as a mid morning pampering.
    Not only do I love this product, but my husband does too! When I first got the product he wanted nothing to do with it, however I soon my husband to let me give him pedicures. Before I knew it he was asking me for them every week! There are areas to rest your feet on either side of the caddy if, for example, the water is too hot or if you are giving a pedicure to someone else. This makes it a lot easier on your back and eliminates the need of an extra stool. You can find this product at Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, Amazon, or  eBay for approximately $40. Olive Oil Hair Treatment

    
    Here is a great olive oil hair treatment that I found by Traci Vandermark on www.ehow.com. I tried this treatment before posting this and I absolutely loved it! I modified the treatment by combing the olive oil through my hair with a wide-toothed comb and, rather than leaving it in for 30 minutes, I left it in overnight. I placed two towels over my pillow case and secured a plastic bag over my shower cap when I went to sleep. This treatment worked better for me than deep conditioning treatments I've received at salons, not to mention it was much cheaper and far more convenient. 
    "The health benefits of olive oil have been proclaimed for centuries. Olive oil is gaining increasing popularity as a beauty product, as well. What it does for your body on the inside as a nutritional product, it does for your body on the outside as a beauty aid. One of the beauty benefits of olive oil has to do with your hair. The best way to use olive oil on your hair is by making a conditioner with it. The process is simple, but the benefits are rewarding." - Traci Vandermark


Things You'll Need:

• Cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil
• Microwave
• Shower cap (or a plastic bag)
• Towel

Instructions:

1. Pour 1/2 cup of olive oil into a microwave-safe bowl. Heat it in the microwave for 20 seconds, or until warm.
2. Place a towel over your shoulders to protect clothing.
3. Put a small amount of olive oil in the palm of your hand and massage it into your hair. If you have a dry scalp, massage a small amount into the scalp, as well. If you have oily hair, massage it into your hair, but stay at least 1/2 inch from the scalp. Repeat the process of massaging small amounts at a time into the hair until the hair is entirely covered with olive oil.
   
4. Place your hair loosely on your head and cover it with a plastic shower cap.
   
5. Relax for at least 30 minutes while the olive oil is treating your hair.
   
6. Shampoo the olive oil out of your hair with a mild shampoo. Give a light condition with your usual conditioner. Rinse it out completely. You will see that the olive oil treatment makes you hair much softer and much more manageable, as well as gives it some added shine.

Tips and Warnings:

• If you have extra long hair, you will need to use 1 cup of olive oil instead of 1/2.
• When heating the olive oil, heat for no more than 20 seconds the first time. This will give you a chance to observe the strength of your microwave and the amount of time you will need to heat the oil so it is warm, but not too hot.

    "Today, I'm going to work out." We've all said it at one point or another. Be it the weather, the inconvenience, or the lack of time, we've all had our moments when we haven't followed through with this commitment.     It seems as though I've been fighting an ongoing battle with my dish washing liquid since...well, since I can remember. Luckily, I have been blessed with a dishwasher, but I still have to wash a glass or dish from time to time.     I can't even count how many times I have ripped and tore heavy trash bags in my attempt to throw out the garbage. After years of searching and switching between products, I have finally found the best kitchen bags, Glad ForceFlex Odor Shield Febreze bags. I haven't had any rips or tears in the material, even with the heaviest of loads. When I open the trash bin, even with a full bag, it smells absolutely wonderful. Rainbath Will Have You (and Your Family) Singing!

    Finding the perfect body wash for yourself can be difficult, finding one perfect for the whole family - nearly impossible. Neutrogena Rainbath bath gel is a great pick when you're trying to please everyone. I posted two photos because the first photo shows the pear and green tea scent as being clear, but it is actually a light green. The other scents are original formula and pink grapefruit. I have tried all three and love them all equally! The girls seem to like the grapefruit and pear and green tea, but my boys prefer the original scent because it's a little more neutral. The original scent doesn't clash with perfume or cologne, which is always a plus. This product makes your skin feel soft and clean, rinsing away easily without leaving any waxy feeling residue. Not only does it make you smell wonderful, it even clears up your skin. Goodbye body acne, hello smooth, touchable radiant skin! In comparison to other products, I always bought soap for my boys because they were easy to please. Much to my surprise, when I bought this bath gel they actually started requesting it. Sweeter, Smoother Skin in Seconds

    Sometimes I feel as though a good shave gel or cream is harder to find than looking for a needle in a haystack. If you've had the same experience, then this is the review for you. I've waxed, plucked, and even burned off a small layer of skin from time to time simply because I wanted to avoid the cuts, nicks, and slices that occur while shaving. Waxing is painful, not to mention expensive, plucking is not an option for legs/underarms, and I have had one too many negative experiences involving hair removal creams such as Nair and Veet. Evolution of Smooth (EOS) is an amazing product that I discovered a few years ago at Target. While I have yet to try the tan, green, purple, or white line - I did try the pink and I fell in love with it right from the start. Clear Pores? Yes Please!

    If you had a chance to read yesterday's blog then you know how big of a fan I am of Yes to Tomatoes daily facial cleanser. Good news beach bunnies, they have a scrub too! I love Yes to Tomatoes Daily Pore Scrub because it gets deep into my pores without scratching and irritating my skin. I've tried many scrubs that either don't feel as though they are working, or they feel extremely abrasive. No one wants to feel like they are scrubbing their skin with sandpaper. I even use my Yes to Tomatoes products with my Olay Professional Pro-X Advanced Cleaning System (see my 1st blog dated April 23, 2012 for my review of that product). My skin feels soft, smooth, and refreshed each time that I use it and it doesn't clash when I use it in combination with other products. Within 1 week of using Yes to Tomatoes Daily Pore Scrub my skin appeared as though it had a more even tone, less blackheads and clogged pores, and less oil production. It really helps with those annoying and persistent clogged pores located on and around your nose. I find that if I use this product I don't need to use any blackhead removing strips which saves me a few bucks each month.     I have always had extremely sensitive skin and I was overjoyed to find a cleanser that I can comfortably use twice a day. With most cleansers, my skin ends up feeling dry, flaky and producing excess amounts of oil to make up for what I've washed away. I was astounded to discover that I was not only able to use Yes to Tomatoes Daily Clarifying Cleanser twice a day, but it left my skin feeling soft, smooth, and moisturized. I know that most professionals recommend that you use a make-up remover made specifically for the eye area when washing away any kind of eye make-up, but I prefer to use this.      Every girl deserves to have strong, beautiful, luxurious hair, but how many of us can afford it? Most affordable shampoos and conditioners dry out your hair, scalp, or do the complete opposite and leave hair feeling greasy and unclean. I have tried line after line of beauty products for my hair, eventually buying All Soft by Redken. While I really enjoyed All Soft, I had to drive to a special beauty store because most stores sell a small bottle for $10 and a large for $25. Each time I wash my hair I use all 4 products, but I have a specific regimen so as to get the most out of my products each time I use them. First thing I do when I shower is shampoo my hair with G.F.'s Triple Nutrition Fortifying Shampoo (Extra Dry), then I condition with G.F.'s Triple Nutrition Fortifying Conditioner (Extra Dry), but I DO NOT RINSE. I use a wide toothed comb to distribute the conditioner evenly throughout my scalp and hair. Next, I comb a quarter sized amount of the G.F. 3-Minute Undo Treatment through my hair, then twist my hair up and secure it on top with the wide toothed comb. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT put hair into a pony tail or bun when it's wet because it will cause breakage. After that I shave, wash my body, do my face treatments, and take 1-2 minutes to simply just relax. I rinse all of the conditioning treatments out of my hair right before I get out of the shower, so it's been in my hair for approximately 10-15 minutes. Rinse the products out completely so that they will not leave your hair feeling greasy or oily. Last step is to spritz on G.F.'s Triple Nutrition conditioning spray, once again use a wide toothed comb to distribute evenly.
    Within just a few uses you will notice how much softer and silkier your hair feels. I often enjoy curling or straightening my hair, both of which do more damage than good to your precious locks. Anne's Pink Lemonade Cupcakes

I know we're supposed to be getting bikini ready, but this just looked too good. I found this on cookingwithanne.blogspot.com (she also has a recipe for Lime Cupcakes), and honestly, it was love at first sight. First, they're PINK! Second, they taste like lemonade. That's all it takes for me to love this recipe. If there is a heaven, these are most definitely being served there...!


Pink Lemonade Cupcakes
 - makes 18-24

1 boxed white cake mix (most are 18.52 ounces)
2 whole eggs
1/3 cup oil
1 1/4 cups water
zest of half a lemon
juice of half a lemon
red food dye

Icing
3/4 cup butter - softened (1 1/2 sticks)
zest of half a lemon
juice of half a lemon
red food dye
powdered sugar (3-4 cups depending on how much juice your lemon holds)

Mix up the cake mix with the eggs, oil, water, zest and juice. Add dye a few drops at a time and mix well until the correct color is reached. Pour into muffin tins, lightly greased or set with cupcake wrappers. Bake at 350 degrees F for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and springy when touched in the center. Let cool.

Beat the butter until fluffy and add zest. Pour in juice and powdered sugar a cup at a time, and keep beating until icing forms and is of a nicely spreadable consistency. Add dye and blend until color is right. Frost cooled cupcakes and decorate as desired.

Simple home remedies:
Soak feet for 10 minutes in warm water to which salt has been added. Remove and scrub dry, especially between the toes. This is the easiest way to relax tired feet. In the case of a sprain add Epsom salt to the water for best results.
You can also use the hot ‘n’ cold treatment, which improves the blood circulation of your feet. First dip you feet in hot water and then dip it in cold water. Do this for 20 minutes.
Alternatively add a shampoo to warm water and soak your feet for 10 minutes. This will also improve the texture of the toenails.
For cracked heels mix a few drops of lemon juice in Vaseline and apply gently on cracked heels.
Scrub heels with pumice stone while bathing and then apply a rich moisturising cream.
Use a good hand and body lotion on your feet too.
Mix a few drops of lemon juice in vaseline and apply gently on cracked heels.
After bath, apply almond oil to the feet and massage until all the oil has been soaked up. Do it for a month for best results.
